Obama Has Some Egg on His Face
From the Editors
Tuesday's elections made it clear that the 2010 mid term elections are going to be a battle. Voters are massively discontent and they are not willing to follow President Obama blindly.
Yesterday it seemed like Obama and his allies, saw losing the Virginia Governor's race as a foregone conclusion even though Democrats had carried the state the last 8 years. But losing the Governorship in New Jersey is more of a sting as the President, the Vice President, and key strategic administration allies (including major labor unions) fought hard to defend NJ. It didn't work and Republicans are in power there too.
The GOP was not able to sweep the major elections though; they lost in New York's 23rd Congressional District which turned into a circus where the Republic Party supported the Republican nominee but major national Republican figures (Palin, Pawlenty, and others) endorsed a third party candidate running as a Conservative Party Candidate. In response, the Republican nominee for the Congressional seat suspended her campaign and nominated the Democrat who ended up winning by a slim margin.
Regardless, Democrats suffered a major loss, probably because of the overreaching agenda of the liberals in congress. But Republicans will need to unite around the issues that bring them together or they wont be able to make the gains they are hoping to make next year. If they can unite though, they might very well level on the Dems.
