Abortion's Back On The Table
From the Editors
"Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak, the leading anti-abortion Democrat during last year's health care negotiations, is making it clear that the abortion language included in the Senate's health care bill is unacceptable to him and several like-minded colleagues.
"In the present form, the Senate health care bill is going nowhere," Stupak told Fox News today. "I want to see health care passed (but)… there's a principle and a belief that the American people agree with which says no public funding for abortion."
The contentious issue of abortion has never been far from the debate over President Obama's health care legislation. In the coming weeks, however, it could take on a more prominent role again. Stupak has suggested that as many as a dozen lawmakers who originally voted "yes" on health care could switch their vote because of the abortion issue."

| Dano - Just for the record, Representative Stupak is a Democrat. Guess that derailed your conspiracy theory about Republicans.
The bill that is to be considered DOES contain language which allows for federal funds to fund abortion - or better yet - your tax dollars may be spend to kill fetuses.
Now - I would rather address other components of the bill - but let's finish this. Obama and his administration's deliberations concluded that it was cheaper to abort a fetus than it was for a woman to give birth. |

| Democrats should just say to the abortion foes, "Look, as with any private insurance, national medicine will not cover elective procedures." And then be done with the subject!
Think about it, if we insurance providers allowed elective procedures such as breast augmentations, tummy tucks and chin lifts, what would stop them from providing abortions too?
Abortion provision with our national health care is a moot issue. The GOP knows that but is using the issue for the sole purpose to derail national health care plans. |
