Is Meg Whitman California's Sarah Palin?
From the Editors
During the 2008 presidential election many critics blamed Sarah Palin's handlers for sheltering Palin from the press and keeping her bottled up. It seems like Meg Whitman's campaign is doing the same thing in California.
Whitman has been successful with a slew of radio ads and sound bytes but she seems to be ducking deep conversations and questions about her political philosophy, policy prescriptions and other related questions with political reporters and editorial boards.
Our own Orange County Register Editorial Board has been attempting to schedule some time with Meg but her press aids have yet to confirm a date. And she recently refused to debate her primary opponent Steve Poizner publicly at the California Republican Party Convention (which might be an indication of how seriously she and other candidates take the party.)
It is hard to say much about Meg when no one knows much about her except what she says in carefully crafted radio spots.
Maybe she is waiting to do a major political interview with Katie Couric? We know how that worked out for Governor Palin.
| I prefer Larry Naritelli. He does not have all of the money that Whittman and Poyznier have but he has a much better character and stronger moral compass in my opinion. how come Meg Whittman did not vote for so many years? Why would I want either of these two candidates who are so bitter and spend so much of thier time politically bashing one another. That is not nice and it is immoral. |

| I don't know about Meg Whitman, but Debra Medina is the Sarah Palin of Texas.
She is a fresh, conservative-first, citizen-not-special-interest-dominated candidate running against a special-interest-dominated governor of her own party.
I predict that the nation will be shocked to see her defeat Perry in the GOP primary. |

| Not hardly, Meg is intelligent and informed. Those two positive attributes set her apart from Palin. It is really a slam at this successful business women to be mentioned in the same breath as Palin. |

| No one can ever be like Sarah. Look at her performance during the question period of her speech. As she sat perched on the front of a Glen Beck chair, mini-skirt doing it's mini skirt thingey, legs gracefully Mary Harted at the ankle, President Palin thoughtfully caressed her panty-hosed knees, gazing palmward while she unblinkingly rattled off rehersed answers to the pre-arranged questions. One could quite literally see the Bibical serpent slithering sleekly down the slender branch of the apple tree into the minds of men. |

| One of the reasons that many conservatives are afraid to be open about the issues, is that they are afraid to get in the cross-hairs of the PC. Both the press and the voters are guilty of this. It is absolutely incredible that so many people are afraid to say what they actually think on incorrect issues. It is a sad commentary that censorship of thought has become so popular. This has proven to be a major barrier to change and real reform. |
